Travelhost Magazine Appoints VP of Marketing…Brenda Freeman Cantrell Returns to Travelhost?

Is this woman insane?

Why would anyone in their right mind sign up for the Vice President of Marketing spot at Travelhost Magazine?

Does she even KNOW what she’s potentially getting herself into?  Is her salary worth a stint in a Federal Prison?

Fraud is ABOUND in the Travelhost Marketing Department!  Just ask David Portener!

Take a look at Dave’s replacement:

Evidently, Buerger must have gotten himself a “fall-woman,” to throw under the bus when the Feds come-a-knockin’ at the door?

In this PR release, Buerger is quoted:  “Many TRAVELHOST Associates will remember Brenda during her tenure from the mid-80s to mid-90s.”

Really?

How many Associates do you have left from the mid-80s to mid-90s Jim?

8 maybe?

Not a whole lot, for “Americas Number 1 Travel Magazine.”

Just goes to show what a 95% FAILURE RATE will do to a company over the years.

Sorry, I digress….

Anyway, THE PUBLISHERS ADVOCATE will be keeping a close eye on the marketing materials coming out of Dallas for the “Travelhost Magazine Opportunity” and “Associate Publisher Development,” as well as the materials used to market “Regional and National Advertising space.”

Seems as if there are many ADVERTISERS that have been defrauded by Travelhost as well, not just associate publishers.  See, in order to sell these regional and national ads, many advertisers have been given some exceedingly exaggerated stats regarding the actual reach of “America’s Number 1 Travel Magazine.”

I’m sure they’ll all be accurate and truthful now, especially with all of the legal action taking place throughout the country…once these entrepreneurs get into the courtroom, you never know what they’ll say or do.

For those not aware, take a look:  http://www.justia.com/search.py?cx=001017683474852908061%3Aoct7h3tcday&q=travelhost&sa=Search+Justia&cof=FORID%3A11

See, with all of this stuff going on, and all of the people watching what Travelhost Magazine is up to…Jim Buerger picked an interesting time to add some brass to the Travelhost family.

Maybe Travelhost has decided to change their 43 year old practice of scamming entrepreneurs, advertisers and themselves…and start over?

I’d be surprised, but hey…you never know.

THE PUBLISHERS ADVOCATE

PS> Is there a class-action lawsuit on the horizon for Travelhost Magazine, Mr. James Buerger and it’s general council, Mr. John Price?  Stay tuned to THE PUBLISHERS ADVOCATE to find out!

That’s funny. They go through Marketing VP’s / CMO’s as quickly as they go through franchisees. I think this is the 5th in the past 5 years. Let’s see, there was a guy named Bobby about 5 years ago who lasted about a year, followed by another guy named Brooks (Scott or Mike, don’t quite remember his first name.) who also lasted about a year. Then there was Rick Swanson who also lasted about a year until he was replaced by Dave Portener, who ALSO lasted about a year. And now this woman. Hilarious, if you ask me. Not to mention the series of individuals that came before Bobby. This woman must be either desperate or insane!

  2. Former Employee Says:

I do remember Brenda and worked with her. She is professional and certainly too good for Travelhost. My guess is she needs a job. She has been battered around TH before and must be desperate. So sorry for her. Brenda, no matter how hard you try you won’t be able to do any better or different than before.

  3. Incredulous Says:

Unfortunately, the reality for her is that no matter what big, fancy title they give her, it doesn’t mean a thing. Everyone there has a big, fancy title and they mean absolutely nothing at all. Everyone at Travelhost is some kind of manager, director or executive. Everyone. And their titles change all the time. Even Buerger calls himself the COB… but there is no board of directors! None. Non existent. It’s laughable, actually. It’s simply meant to impress people on the outside, including (especially) people they’re trying to sell franchises to. And, of course, to provide a buffer between Buerger and the outside world. So she’s the new VP of Marketing… a “department” which consists of only 2 or 3 people at most. And all 3 are managers or directors. Actually, Kirk Smith’s latest title seems to be Executive Director of Marketing. What’s the difference?? Bottom line; titles don’t mean a thing over there. No matter if you’re a manager, a director, an executive or a VP, only Buerger makes any decisions around there and no one else has any authority whatsoever. So what does a new VP of Marketing mean for Travelhost? Not a thing. It’s still “Buerger business as usual”. All he’s done is add another puppet to his extremely diminished collection. I’m just wondering where the money is coming from to pay her salary. I hope she has a back up plan in place. She’s gonna need it.

  4. Former Employee Says:

You are correct about the titles. Brenda has had many titles over the years including Managing Editor (even though she edited nothing but instead ran production, but it was a fancy title for her). Honestly I scratch my head, wondering why in the world she would go back in that hornet’s nest. To my knowledge this is her third time there. Last time I was told she quit because she couldn’t put up with a certain VP who was always in a power struggle. Brenda, do you really think things have changed? Seriously?

  5. Randy Says:

I think she is aware of the problems facing TH and the fraud that is synonymous with Travelhost. I think the only reason anyone would join that company is to gather enough documentation to either sink the ship or have Travelhost pay them hush money to not tell what they know. The surprising thing is that TH is stupid enough to actually hire anyone when it will be so easy to document the fraud. We all know that Travelhost has already paid ex employees to sign non-disclosure agreements so that they can keep on stealing. I wish I would have thought about applying for the job myself. There is a guaranteed “bonus” of at least $100k after only 2-3 months of employment. Isn’t it ironic that there are more people that have made serious money by agreeing to not disclose the Travelhost fraud than there are from actually publishing a Travelhost magazine. She may be the smartest employee they ever hired! Gotta love it!
